April 2022 Minutes Annual Parish Meeting

The Annual Parish Meeting of Canwick Parish Council was held on Monday 25th April 2022 and commenced at 7.50pm under the Chairmanship of Councillor L.J. Pennell, Chairman of the Parish Council.

The Chairman opened the meeting with a welcome to those present.  District Councillor and Parish Council Vice-Chairman Carrington, District Councillor Goodwin, Four Parishioners (two Parish Councillors) and the Clerk were in attendance.  

Apologies had been received from Cllr Griffin, Cllr Narborough and District Councillor Tinsley.  

The Chairman thanked the Councillors and the Clerk for their hard work in the past year.

 
1.   Clerk’s Notes from the Meeting on 19th April 2021:  The notes had been circulated beforehand and were taken as read.  It was agreed to accept the notes as minutes of the meeting on 19th April 2021.

2.   Parish Council Chairman’s Report:  The Chairman updated on issues over the past year. (copy of the report is attached to the minute file for information).  

A report on the Council’s finances was also given.

The Chairman thanked the District and County Councillors for their hard work.

He then welcomed any questions. There were no questions raised.

3.   Report from the County Council Division Representative:  No report.

4.   Report from District Council Ward Representative:   District Councillor Carrington updated on several issues including how the pandemic had changed the way of working and a lot more work was now done remotely.  Also grants of approximately 38 million pounds had been distributed to businesses to support them during the pandemic.

He paid tribute to Phil Roberts, Deputy Chief Executive, and Tracy Aldridge for their work on the resettlement project, resettling and rehousing Ukranian evacuees.

It was noted NKDC were in a strong position financially despite the tapering down of government funding.

It was also noted the Council has more than one hundred business units specialising in starter businesses, generating more jobs.

Cllr Carrington stated following an excellent peer review of the Council they had been nominated for two different Council of the Year Awards.

He then welcomed any questions.  Cllr Carrington answered questions raised from the floor..

5.   Parishioners’ Question Time:   There were no questions raised. 

There being no further business the Chairman thanked those in attendance and closed the meeting at 8.20pm.
