April 2024 Minutes Annual Parish Meeting
The Annual Parish Meeting of Canwick Parish Council was held on Monday 15 April 2024 and commenced at 7.45pm under the Chairmanship of Councillor L.J. Pennell, Chairman of the Parish Council.
The Chairman opened the meeting with a welcome to those present. County Councillor Cawrey, District Councillor Harrington, District Councillor Goodwin, District Councillor and Parish Council Vice-Chairman Carrington, three Parishioners (two Parish Councillors) and the Clerk were in attendance. Apologies had been received from Councillor O’Melia.
The Chairman thanked the Councillors and the Clerk for their hard work in the past year.
1. Clerk’s Notes from the Meeting on 17 April 2023: The notes had been circulated beforehand and were taken as read. It was agreed to accept the notes as minutes of the meeting on 17 April 2023.
2. Parish Council Chairman’s Report: The Chairman updated on issues over the past year. (copy of the report is attached to the minute file for information).
A report on the Council’s finances was also given.
The Chairman thanked the District and County Councillors for their hard work.
He then welcomed any questions. There were no questions raised.
3. Report from the County Council Division Representative: County Cllr Cawrey stated it was a pleasure to be our County Councillor and she was happy to assist with any problems.
She suggested to the Chairman a meeting with Bracebridge Heath Parish Council to discuss a pathway through from the new Westminster Drive development to Bracebridge Heath recreation Ground. Ownership of the surrounding hedge needs to be determined.
Cllr Narborough thanked Cllr Cawrey for all her efforts.
4. Report from District Council Ward Representative: District Councillor Carrington updated on several issues including:
• The Council is working hard to achieve carbon net-zero by 2030.
• The Council holds nearly 4000 council homes on its stock.
• There are approximately 100 industrial units throughout the District which are all let out.
• The Council is financially robust and there has been a 2.99 increase in the precept.
He then welcomed any questions. There were no questions.
Cllr Carrington concluded by stating it was a pleasure to serve the village.
Cllr Narborough thanked Cllr Carrington for all his efforts.
5. Parishioners’ Question Time:
The issue of parking on Hall Drive on Lincoln City match days was raised as it was thought a fire engine would be unable to get through. The Chairman agreed it is a problem but if parking restrictions were sought it would affect residents living there. To be monitored.
There being no further business the Chairman thanked those in attendance and closed the meeting at 8.20pm.
